The Flute Trio Op. 24 is comprised of six miniatures, hardly any of which last longer than one minute. The composition is highly simplified in nature, pared right down to the bare essentials. A minimalist aesthetic is evident in the subtle shifts of timbre between the three instruments that draw the listener in to discover more hidden details. Shifting between poetic, magical moments and those more marked by ephemeral, flowing rhythmic patterns, the work has the character of a meticulously crafted work of art created with painstaking precision. |
